How to add a referral

Where do referrals come from?

Referrals enter our system in 1 of 3 ways: automatically, from a New Doc, or manually.

Auto Created Referrals

Any referral that is sent from the hospital via Allscripts, Navi Health or Aidin, will come get created automatically in our system and will appear in the list of referrals in the New status. An email and app notification will be sent to you when it is created.

New Doc Created Referrals

Referrals can be generated from a "New Doc." To access this feature, navigate to the main menu on the left side of the screen and select "New Docs." If there is a document awaiting attention, a number indicator will be visible. If the document in question is a referral, click on the "Create" button and follow the steps outlined in the 4-step wizard. You can choose to attach the document to the referral during this process. Once completed, the referral will be added to the referral list, and the document will no longer be visible.

Manually Created Referrals

Of course there may be referrals that come from elsewhere and for that you select the “+New” button on the main referrals page. Follow the steps outlined in the 3-step wizard. Once completed, the referral will be added to the referral list

Referral for Multiple Sister facilities

When a referral is sent to multiple sister facilities they are grouped as one referral. There are 3 ways a facility can get added to an existing referral:
  1. When referrals are auto created, the system checks if the referral exists for another facility and when it does, it auto adds the facility to the existing referral.
  2. When creating a referral with the wizard, you can add all the facilities that received this referral in step 3.
  3. Once the referral is created, you just open the existing referral and you add a facility to the facilities listed.
Each facility is responsible in handling the statuses and progress of the referral.
