Communicating with Hospitals
When a referral is created automatically from a hospital source system (e.g. Allscripts), you can communicate directly with the hospital within the referral, without needing to go into the source system itself. This is a two-way communication feature where you can view messages sent by the hospital and respond to them.
Where is the Messaging Feature?
On each referral, a "Hospital Messages" tab will appear in the 2nd section of the referral. This tab is only visible if the referral is connected to a hospital source system.
Under this tab, you can:
- Send new messages
- View the conversation between the hospital and Referral Tracker users
Each facility associated with the referral will have its own conversation. Use the facility filter to view messages specific to a particular facility.
How to Receive Messages
See
this article on how to receive messages from each source system.
Viewing Received Messages
When someone from a hospital sends a message to a facility on a referral, it will appear under that facility's filter in the "Hospital Messages" tab. Three alert badges indicate when there is a new message. These badges will disappear once the message is read by anyone on your team. The alert badges are:
- Referral Dashboard- In both Kanban and List views, a red envelope icon will appear on the referral.
- Hospital Messages Tab- A red envelope icon will show within the tab.
- Facility Filter - A red circle will appear next to the specific facility that received the new message.
Sending Messages
When you want to send a message to the hospital, follow these steps:
Click on the "Send a Message" box in the "Hospital Messages" tab. The box will expand.
Choose the facilities you would like to respond to. Note: You can only send messages to facilities you have access to on the referral.
Select the appropriate status for your response.
If you are declining a referral, you will be prompted to provide a reason for the decline.
Write a message. This is required depending on the status selected
.
If the referral in no longer active in the hospital system (the referral may have been placed elsewhere), the message will not be sent.
Notifications
In addition to alert badges, a notification will be sent to anyone with access to the referral. Notifications are delivered to the Notifications Center in Referral Tracker. Users can also opt to receive push notifications on their desktop.
Turning on Push Notifications:
- Each user can enable push notifications through their profile settings. Once enabled, the user's browser will prompt them to allow notifications from SNF Metrics.
- Permission to receive push notifications can also be turned on in user settings. However, the user must still allow notifications from SNF Metrics in their browser settings.
Push notification are only active when you are logged into SNF Metrics.
